The final number of suspected hemorrhagic disease (HD) mortalities reported through 30 November was 1,053 deer from 54 counties, mostly in southeastern and eastern Iowa (please see map below). While additional reports have and will be received, they will be kept as supplemental information as it becomes difficult to sort out duplicate reports as different individuals cover the same ground and discover old carcasses.

This is not an estimate of the number of deaths caused by the HD outbreak as there is no way of knowing what percentage of the dead deer were found, and of those found, how many of them were reported.
