Fairport State Recreation Area

Fairport State Recreation Area near Muscatine offers majestic views of the Mississippi River. The campground is a small but popular destination for visitors who enjoy easy access to fishing and boating.


PLAN YOUR VISIT

Camp at one of Fairport’s electric campsites. Campers will enjoy river views from their campsites, along with modern amenities such as electrical hook-ups and modern restrooms and showers. Advanced campsite reservations can be made online through the online reservation system for Fairport State Recreation Area.

Boat and fish using Fairport’s access to the Mississippi. Two boat ramps provide boating access, with courtesy docks at each ramp. The Mississippi is a popular fishing destination for walleye, catfish and numerous other fish species.

View wildlife at Fairport near the river. Large towboats, recreational boaters, river wildlife and the majesty of the river can be seen from the recreation area.

ATTENTION:  The Fairport Campground is open, however, several sites are still underwater.  The Mississippi River has started to go back down.  Campsites will open back up when they have dried out and Park Staff have been able to make the necessary repairs.  Campsites affected and closed are sites 17-22 and 33-42.  If a reservation was affected by the flood waters, you will be contacted with options.  Boat Ramps are also closed.  Contact the Park Office at 563-263-4337, with any questions.  (Updated 7/21/24)
