When a person is licensed in another state and applies for UST professional licensing in Iowa, qualifications specific to Iowa must be met. Installer, installation inspector, compliance inspector and remover require successful completion of the Iowa courses and exams. Requirements may be waived by the department depending on the course of instruction and examination, experience, knowledge of Iowa UST technical standards, professional standing, and licensing requirements of the states in which the applicant is licensed. It may still be necessary to successfully complete the Iowa exam in order to be licensed. Applicants who apply for the above licensing in Iowa must document current OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training. Cathodic protection testers, tank and line tightness testers, and liners who are licensed in other states and who meet the licensing requirements of 567-134, may apply for reciprocity in Iowa by completing the Iowa UST Professional application form and submitting it along with requested supporting documentation to the DNR UST Section. You will receive a letter from the department indicating the status of your licensing. If the applicant meets the requirements, the UST section will request the licensing fee of $200.
