Healthy Trees, Healthy Iowans
Trees and forests can make Iowa a healthier state. If properly cared for, trees provide a wide variety of benefits to people, communities, and the economy.

Iowa Storms Cause Tree Damage
January’s heavy snow and ice has caused damage to trees across Iowa. If you are dealing with a storm damaged tree, it’s important to make safety the priority. Never work around power lines or approach downed power lines. The extent of damage should be evaluated to prevent further public safety issues or property damage. Consider calling a professional arborist, with an ISA Certified Arborist on staff. To find out more about hiring a professional arborist check out the "How to Hire an Arborist" document.
Storm damage can happen to all types of trees, but some tree varieties are less prone to storm injury. This is something to consider when planting replacement trees this coming spring. More information on managing and preventing storm damage check out the "Managing Storm Damaged Trees" document.
