Illinois Woman Injured in Jet Ski Collision Sunday on Coralville Reservoir

IOWA CITY - An Illinois woman was injured Sunday when two jet skis collided on Coralville Reservoir shortly after 2 p.m.

The collision occurred when a jet ski operated by Matthew Radueshel, 22, of North Liberty was following a jet ski being operated by Cory Bettis, 30, of Shaumburg, Ill. The two jet skis collided as they were beginning to turn.

Kristin Tuma, 27, of Crystal Lake, Ill., was a passenger on the jet ski being operated by Bettis and was injured in the collision. She was taken by ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals where she was being treated to an injury to her hip.

Radueshel received a citation for failure to maintain a safe distance.

The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
