The Natural Resource Commission (NRC) consists of seven citizens who provide policy oversight over Iowa's natural resource protection and enhancement efforts. NRC members are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by vote of the Senate for four year terms. Some of the substantive work of the Commission includes reviewing and approving hunting and fishing administrative rules; public land donations, acquisitions, and easements; construction projects; general business contracts; leases; grants; and the annual budget.
NRC meetings are typically conducted on the second Thursday of the month. At times the Commission may decide to meet in a location outside of Des Moines. Time is normally scheduled at each meeting for members of the public to address the Commission about topics related to natural resource management. If you are interested in the time and place of the meeting for the current month, the agenda will be published at this site prior to the meeting. For further information about meetings you may contact the NRC Board Administrator at alicia.plathe@dnr.iowa.gov.
