IOWA FALLS—On Dec. 6, the city of Iowa Falls reported a newly discovered sewer line break to DNR.

The 6-inch sewer line runs under the Iowa River from Foster Boulevard to Dougans Landing and was likely discharging to the Iowa River. It’s unknown how long since the pipe broke or how much discharged to the river.

The city diverted wastewater to a larger sewer line yesterday, ending the discharge.

The city will check records and report to DNR what they learn about the cause, duration and quantity of the discharge.

The DNR will review the report and assist the city in preventing future leaks.
