Earlier this month the Environmental Protection Agency issued a final rule exempting animal waste at farms from reporting air emissions under the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA).

The Environmental Protection Commission will meet at 1 p.m., Jan. 17, in the Fourth Floor Conference Room at the Wallace Building, 502 E. Ninth St. in Des Moines to discuss air and water quality rule proposals. A joint meeting with the Natural Resources Commission at 10 a.m. in the Second Floor Conference Room 2N will precede the EPC’s regular meeting.

The Iowa Environmental Protection Commission approved the Fourth Quarter Updates to the Intended Use Plans for fiscal year 2016. The Commission took the action on March 15 at their meeting in Ankeny, Iowa. The updates included a proposal for offering loan forgiveness to Drinking Water SRF projects involving public health impacts, water and energy efficiency, emergency generation, and disadvantaged communities.
