Air Quality Bureau Title V Workshop Sessions Set for April 22 and 23 Monday, March 10, 2014

The Air Quality Bureau's Title V section will hold two sessions of a training workshop on the Title V permitting process. There will be one afternoon Title V workshop and one in the morning. Topics of discussion will cover changes to the application forms, emissions calculations, periodic monitoring, CAM plans and a summary of common application deficiencies. Question and answer sessions will be held during the presentations.

Public Input Opportunity for Proposal to Rescind Voluntary Operating Permit Program Friday, March 07, 2014
In the mid-1990’s, the DNR developed the voluntary operating permit (VOP) program to assist facilities that wanted to take voluntary limitations on emissions and operations to avoid having to obtain a federal Title V operating permit. DNR’s Air Construction Permit program can also provide a mechanism to establish limits to remain below the Title V operating permit program thresholds.  read more...
Spring Thaw Causes Elevated Levels of Wintertime Haze Friday, March 07, 2014

Elevated fine particle (PM 2.5) pollution levels were observed at Viking Lake State Park on Thursday. Levels rose overnight across much of Iowa, but should fall later today as a cold front moves eastward through the state and winds increase.
