Banner Shooting Range is a multi-use shooting facility that offers a safe, clean shooting environment for
handguns, rifles and shotguns. Targets can be placed at 25, 50 and 100 yards, as well as 7, 10, and 15 yards for handguns. Manual clay target throwers allow visitors to take aim at clay targets. The range is staffed with professional certified range safety officers during all operating hours.
Banner Shooting Range is closed: January 1st (New Year's Day), Easter Sunday, July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, December 24th and December 25th.
Bays Branch Shooting Range (Guthrie County) - PERMANETLY CLOSED - AUGUST 1, 2023
Bays Branch Shooting Range has been permanently closed due to ongoing illegal and unsafe activities. Recreational target shooters and hunters wishing to sight in their firearms are encouraged to check out the interactive state-wide range map at www.iowadnr.gov/ranges to locate other public and private shooting ranges across the state.
Brushy Creek Shooting Range (Webster County)
Hours: Open daily, sunrise to sunset.
Two ranges are located at Brushy Creek State Recreational Area. One is south of the park office approximately 1/2 mile North of County Road D-46. The other is a trap range located in the northern section of the park. It can be reached by taking 250th from County Road P-73, then turn right on Taylor Ave. Both are located East of Lehigh in Webster County.
The south range is for pistols, rifles, muzzleloaders, and shotguns (slugs or patterning only). Targets may be placed at distances out to 100 yards. Please bring your own targets, pick up spent rounds and shells, and carry out your trash.
The north range (shotgun range) is for shooting clay targets only. Visitors may bring their own throwers or use the manual thrower provided at the range. Please pick up spent rounds and shells, and carry out your trash.
Butch Olofson Shooting Range (Polk County)

Butch Olofson Shooting Range is a multi-use shooting facility that offers a safe, clean shooting environment for handguns, rifles, shotguns, and archery. There is a 30 yard handgun bay, a 50 yard bay and a 100 yard bay. Additionally a skeet/trap overlay field and a seasonal 5-stand station allow visitors to take aim at clay targets. There is also both a static archery range for sighting in and a walking archery course available for use. The range is staffed with professional certified range safety officers during all operating hours.

Hawkeye Wildlife Shooting Range (Johnson County)

Located at 2248 Amana Road NW, Swisher, IA, 52338, the Hawkeye Wildlife Area shooting range has benches and berms at 30, 50 and 100 yards. Steel targets may be brought to the range, but should not be located closer than 100 yards for rifle targets and 10 yards for handgun targets. Please bring your own targets and target stands, pick up spent rounds and shells, and carry out your trash.
A second range is located further west at 2065 Amana Rd NW, Swisher, IA, 52338. This range provides a shotgun and an archery range. The archery range is complete with a tower and targets at 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 yards. Targets are for arrows with field points only, no broadheads allowed on targets. At this range, there are also 12 stations to shoot clay targets from. Visitors must bring their own throwers and clay targets. Please pick up any spent shotgun hulls and boxes and carry out with you.
