Above the Causeway is still the best ice but the upper half of the main lake has improved to about 5 inches of ice. I would still use extreme caution if going down-lake of the middle (red barn) boat ramp. |
Black Crappie - Fair: The bite seems to have slowed down some. Continues to be best later in the afternoon into the night. Concentrate on the habitat i 12 to 14 foot of water or in 16 - 18 foot farther down the lake. |
Bluegill - Fair: The bite seems to be getting a little more hit and miss as we get farther along in the season. Early morning or late afternoon down about 14 to 16 feet in the flooded timber. |

Iowa-Caught Fish Are Safe to Eat, In Almost All Cases
The vast majority of Iowa’s streams, rivers and lakes offer safe and high-quality fish that pose little or no threat to human health if consumed. Some limitations may apply for young children and pregnant women. Here’s a Fish Consumption Fact Sheet from the Iowa DNR and the Iowa Dept. of Public Health for more information. Here is a list of current fish consumption advisories for Iowa lakes and rivers.
