WASHINGTON – Saturday afternoon, Dec. 15, DNR responded to a complaint of discolored water in an unnamed tributary of Elk Creek about three miles southeast of Andover in Clinton County.

Manure-laden water was running off when DNR staff reached the site Saturday afternoon. DNR staff traced runoff to recently land-applied manure from Blue Hyll Dairy. Brad Wilson, Waste Management Ag Services, applied manure to several fields Friday night through early Saturday morning.

The amount of runoff is unknown, but the DNR did not find any signs of a fish kill. The DNR will consider appropriate enforcement action.
