The Air Quality Bureau has updated its “Stationary Fossil Fuel Combustion Calculation Tool” and “GHG Emissions Estimation Guidance” to reflect new global warming potentials (GWP). The revised documents should be used to calculate potential and actual greenhouse gas emissions from stationary sources for Air Quality permit applications.

The documents now use the GWPs from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Fourth Assessment Report. These GWPs are effective as of March 22, 2017, and were part of the larger Regulatory Certainty rulemaking approved by the EPC on January 18, 2017.*

The updated documents are available at http://www.iowadnr.gov/Environmental-Protection/Air-Quality/Greenhouse-Gas-Emissions/GHG-Estimation-Tools.
