Fishing Report

Walleye - Good: With the drop in water temperatures Wader fishing action will increase with good numbers of fish harvested this fall. Excellent oppertunities exisit to catch that trophy walleye as reports of 10+ pound walleye is common from this lake in the fall. With the clear water, action will be best after dark.

Fishing Forecast

During 2014, stock (10.0 - 14.9 inches) and quality (15.0 - 19.9 inches) sized walleye will again comprise the bulk of the fish creeled by the Silver Lake angler; however, persistence will be rewarded with nice catches of preferred (>20.0 inches) sized fish. Continued good growth and consistent recruitment, a trademark of Silver Lake, will provide anglers ample opportunities for consistent fishing for many years to come. Panfish anglers should approach the fishery with guarded optimism during 2014. Persistence and patience will produce nice catches dominated by angler acceptable black crappie, bluegill and yellow perch. Silver Lake anglers fishing the submerged shoreline timber during the months of April through May should harvest bluegill and black crappie. Catches of yellow perch may be an occasional event, but anglers should be pleased by the current size. Catfish will continue to provide ample opportunities for angler acceptable sized fish during the 2014 season. Anglers will be quite satisfied as good numbers of large angler acceptable sized catfish will comprise the majority of the catch. Bullhead anglers will continue to “fill the bucket” at Silver Lake with good numbers of large plump fish which will provide quality angling during 2014. (2014)
