Volunteers are the backbone of the Iowa DNR.

As a volunteer with Iowa DNR, you carry the mission forward. We’ll provide all the training, the resources, and share clear information about upcoming projects and roles—you simply show up.

Volunteering means knowing your time directly supports the next generation, strengthens your community, and protects the environment in the great state of Iowa.

Fishing Volunteer

Fishing volunteers teach or assist in programs focused on aquatic education and fishing skills. Advanced angling experience is helpful but not necessary. You could end up  hosting or helping the fishing trailer or helping people learn to fish other ways.

Hunting Volunteer

Hunting volunteers can fall into multiple categories, including hunter education/firearm safety instructors, mentors or guides who take people hunting, and advanced hunting skills teachers. Knowledge of hunting and firearm handling best practices is required. We need volunteers to teaching Hunter Ed or other hunting skills-based classes or helping new hunters.
