The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will hold a public open house on Sept. 2, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Wheatland Community Center, 107 East Jefferson St. Wheatland, to discuss the habitat management, recreation use, wildlife populations and other topics of interest for the Syracuse Wildlife Area, and to present the recently completed forest wildlife stewardship plan.
The forest wildlife stewardship plan is a guide for future management of the wildlife area which will focus on maintaining wildlife habitat, reducing invasive species along with promoting long-term sustainability of the forest resource at Syracuse.
This will be an informal open house where DNR representatives will be on hand from the Wildlife Bureau to answer questions and discuss future plans at Syracuse with the public.
