Wallingford, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is holding an open house on Aug. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Wallingford Community Center, at the corner of First Street and St. James Ave., in Wallingford, to discuss management plans for 12 Mile Lake, in Emmet County.
The DNR will detail upcoming management actions at 12 Mile Lake, which are slated to begin in fall 2026. Plans include installing new infrastructure that will allow for the partial dewatering of the lake to encourage emergent vegetation and improved water quality. Water levels are anticipated to return to normal the latter half of 2028.
This will be a come-and-go open house format with staff on hand to answer questions.
