The Iowa DNR has discounted its annual passes for the Banner and Butch Olofson shooting ranges for 2026 by $40, making them the perfect gifts for the hard-to-buy-for member of the family.
Beginning November 1 and running through December 28, individual passes will be available for $220 and family passes for $280 (a $40 savings). Archery-only passes also are available for $30. Annual passes may be purchased at either range and are valid at both shooting ranges. If you currently have a pass, this purchase will add an additional year.
Also available are punch cards good for 10 rounds of shotgun shooting at the Olofson Shooting Range for $80.
Banner Shooting Range, located between Indianola and Des Moines on Hwy 65/69, is a multi-use shooting facility that offers a safe, clean shooting environment for handguns, rifles, archery and shotguns. The range is staffed with professional, certified range safety officers during all operating hours. Banner Shooting Range winter hours begin November 1 and will continue through February 28. The range will be open Friday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The range is closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The Butch Olofson Shooting Range, located off Hwy 415, about five miles northwest of Polk City, features a classroom, along with handgun, rifle, trap/skeet and archery ranges. Butch Olofson Shooting Range winter hours are in place November 1 through February 28. The range will be open Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. it is closed Monday through Wednesday. During winter hour operations, trap and skeet will only be available on Saturdays and Sundays.
Banner and Olofson shooting ranges will be closed for the holidays on: November 27 (Thanksgiving Day); December 24, 25, and 26; and December 31 - January 1.
