Position: Geologist 2 - Land Quality Bureau [Apr 15]

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has a job vacancy for a Geologist 2 position, within the Geographic Information System (GIS) Section in the Land Quality Bureau located in Des Moines, IA. Under the guidance of senior GIS staff, this position will conduct spatial analysis, modeling, data processing, and process simulations, such as erosion, nutrient transport and runoff, siting analysis, and spatial pattern identification. This position has responsibility for providing support to DNR program staff in the installation of GIS software, the development of GIS data and the use of ArcMap.

Seasonal Park Aides [Apr 8]

The DNR's State Parks Bureau is hiring seasonal aides in many state parks for the 2020 summer season. Duties will include general park and trail maintenance include facilities, park rule enforcement, public programming, and invasive species control. These positions offer experience with lake, prairie, woodland, trail, and/or campground management. Applicants must be available for various shifts including weekends, evenings and holidays. This position is restricted to 40 hours a week with no overtime or compensatory time available. Starting wage is $11.30 per hour.

Preference will be given to individuals in a natural resource-related field of study. Applicants must be 18 years of age, able to communicate well with the public; work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions; be willing to operate equipment such as mowers, tractors, and chainsaws; and must possess a valid driver’s license.
