Position: (2) Geologist 2 - Land Quality Bureau [July 21]

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has two (2) vacancies for a Geologist 2 position within the Land Quality Bureau located in Des Moines, IA. These positions are available within the department's Geographic Information System (GIS) Section. Position: Natural Resource Technician 2 – Wildlife Bureau [July 15]

Position: Attorney 2 – Legal Services Bureau [July 7]

This position serves as legal counsel to the Department for both natural resources and environmental law. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Research, draft, and review programmatic administrative rules, legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Write and review contracts and agreements necessary to execute the Department’s mission.  
  • Assist with the enforcement of environmental pollution regulation laws and rules within the Environmental Services Division; responsible for preparing administrative enforcement cases, which includes but is not limited to:
    • Investigate matter to obtain facts; review and evaluate alleged violations; prepare administrative orders; conduct case management; and conduct settlement discussions.
    • Represent the Department in contested cases, which includes performing all preparatory discovery functions and leading the litigation, as well as handling subsequent appeals or reviews before the Environmental Protection Commission.
    • Prepare for and participate with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office in litigation relating to environmental programs.

Position: Trout Hatchery Technician – Fisheries Bureau [July 6]

The purpose of this Trout Hatchery Technician position at the Chuck Gipp Decorah Fish Hatchery is to assist the fish culture and fisheries management teams at this station. This hatchery cultures, raises and stocks trout into selected streams and urban ponds of the state and the fisheries management team serves to provide recreational opportunities to the public. Primary duties include trout culture and distribution, building, grounds, and equipment maintenance, and data collection and processing.
