The Iowa DNR released 3,700 rainbow trout this afternoon at Lake Petocka in Bondurant, Triumph Park West and East in Waukee, and Terra Lake in Johnston.
After several consecutive dry years, above-average rainfall in 2024 improved drought conditions across the state, according to the latest Water Summary Update.
The Iowa DNR, through the USDA Forest Service and National Association of State Foresters 2023 IRA, received funds for disadvantaged schools to plant trees.
