Modern facilities are shut down throughout the park.  This includes the shower buildings and modern restrooms.  The dump station is closed as well.  The frost free hydrants in the campgrounds will be on until November.  The cabins are still open and available to rent, and the electricity at the campground stays on also.   (posted 10/30/24)

Modern restrooms throughout the park have been closed for the season. Pit latrines at Williams drive, Beach Boat Ramp, Disc Golf, and the Handicap Fishing Pier will remain open for off-season use. Modern restrooms are expected to re-open on April 15th.  (Posted 10/15/24)

Campground Closure Due To Renovation: The North Campground is closed for 2025 for major renovations. (Updated April 15, 2025)

The Beach and South Campgrounds are currently open for walk-in, self-registration camping. Reservations are not being accepted at this time until start dates of upcoming renovations are determined. Soft trails at Brushy Creek are closed due to wet conditions. The 14 miles of gravel Lake and Pond trails remain open. This alert will be removed when they have dried to sufficiently reopen. (Posted 4/21/2025)

DETOURS/ROADWORK: Repaving and bridge replacement will affect access to Cedar Rock. Access is only possible from the City of Quasqueton.

-There will be 2 weeks in July where tours CANNOT be offered.

Tours of the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Walter Estate have concluded for the year. We expect to offer tours again in mid-May of 2025. (Posted October 7, 2024)

Campground Closure: Due to an upcoming renovation the campground is currently not accepting reservations for 2025. The north half of the campground is expected to open around June 1. The south half of the campground will remain closed the entire 2025 recreation season. The Clear Lake Lodge will be closed from September 2, 2025 - September 30, 2025 and May 1 - September 30, 2026 for repairs/renovation. DNR can notify you if the project is completed sooner and the closure is removed, allowing for rentals. Starting on April 8, Highway 14 will be closed between Highway G40 and Highway G28.  Highway 14 will be closed to all traffic and a detour will be in place using Iowa 163, Highway T17, and Highway 92. This closure will affect access to the park from the north. The project is expected to be completed in October. (Posted March 27, 2025)

All Modern Restroom & Shower facilities in the campground and in the beach area have been closed for the season. Camping in the campground is still permitted through December 15th, 2024. Green Valley Road is closed between 140th and 150th St for a bridge replacement. Estimated completion date is March 2025. (Posted October 15, 2024)

The Restrooms and Shower Facilities have been closed down for the winter season. The water hydrants, electricity, and dump stations are still on. The shower building has been shut down for the winter and will re-open in April. Frost free hydrants and electricity are still available in the winter months. The campground is open for overnight camping and all campsites are reservable in advance.  Modern restrooms and shower facilities throughout the park are currently CLOSED.  The RV dump station and water hydrants in the campground will remain on until we experience a hard frost.  The campground will be completely closed from December 1, 2024, through February 28, 2025. Lake Keomah is scheduled for a major reconstruction project.  This will improve water quality, provide better amenities for park users and increase structure for fishing.  In order for this project to begin the lake will be drained.  As a result, a drawdown will start after July 4, 2024. Project is scheduled to be completed by spring 2026. (Posted March 11, 2024)

Lake draw down for renovations will begin Tuesday, July 9th.  Project is scheduled to be completed by spring 2026.  During this project, Lake Keomah will remain open along with camping and its amenities.

Facilities closing due to the renovations include the Beach and Lodge.

Please keep out of the lake bed.  Conditions of dried silt give the appearance of solid ground, when in fact the soils are very soft.  These conditions could lead to entrapment, if you fall into these spots. (Posted 7/23/24)

The Lodge and Beach at Lake Keomah State Park are closed from August 1, 2024 - October 15, 2025, due to renovations. Shelters are at a first come first serve availability during this time and are not reservable. If the project starts later or is completed earlier than expected, DNR can notify you that the closure will be removed for the lodges and shelters. All campsites are available by reservation only. All electrical, water, and wastewater utilities are on for the camping season. The west campground restroom/shower building is also open now for the season. (Updated 4/15/25)

Starting March 1, 2025 demolition and reconstruction of the east campground restroom/shower building will occur. The project is expected to be completed by early July 2025, but hopefully much sooner. Campers and other visitors can expect increased construction traffic and noise during this timeframe. Contractors will be prohibited from working every Friday from 5:00pm through all day Saturday, weekly.

On October 15th, 2024 water will become unavailable throughout Lewis and Clark State Park including the shower building, full hookup sites, and hydrants. Water will become available again at the start of the 2025 recreation season. (Posted 7/25/24)

Effective Friday, November 22, 2024, the Lakeview Campground will be closed for the season. Camping is still open at the Albany Equestrian Campground. Lakeview will be closed until April 15, 2025. 

The water is turned OFF at Lakeview Campground and Albany Equestrian Campground. The shower building and modern restroom at the boat ramp are closed for the season. Due to a bridge replacement the Albany Equestrian campground will be closed starting on February 1, 2025 - October 31, 2025.  The campground will reopen once the bridge project is completed.
