A much needed bump in the River this week but river levels are still extremely low. When boating, please be careful to not back trailers off the back of ramps. Use the minimum amount of water to float boats off trailer. Water temps are in the lower 70's. Good fishing continues throughout the district and it is a perfect time to get out. The water level at Fulton is rising and is near 4.4 feet, 9.7 feet at Camanche and near 4.6 feet at LeClair. Levels are predicted to be stable all week. Temperature is around 72 degrees. Be careful not to back off the ramps in this very low water. Use the minimum amount of water to float boats on our ramps.
Bluegill - Good: People pitching small jigs with worms are catching gills off rock lines. Gills seem to be moving around a bit so keep moving if they do not bite right away.
Channel Catfish - Fair: Catfish can still be caught although many anglers are moving away from fishing them. Try finding some current areas below 8 feet and use cut shad.
Freshwater Drum - Good: Simple egg sinker with a worm rig is the best way to catch abundant drum. Need areas with moderate current flow, many areas around boat ramps can be good places to target drum.
Largemouth Bass - Good: Try using soft plastics along vegetation lines and brush piles.
Northern Pike - Fair: Bite for pike should pick up this fall. Use gaudy white spinner baits for best results.
Smallmouth Bass - Good: Casting inline spinners or crank baits just off rock points has been good for smallmouth feeding in the rocks. Lots of small fish so use light tackle.
Walleye - Slow: Fishing has been up and down for walleyes but maybe try pitching jigs in current seams.
Black Crappie - Fair: Starting to hear about some anglers targeting Crappies in side channels near fallen trees.
White Bass - Good: Use small spinners or jigs in the tailwater for abundant white bass and and occasional hybrid white bass.
Yellow Perch - Fair: Some yellow perch are being caught with red worms along exposed vegetation lines. Lots of small fish with an occasional keeper.

    The fishery of Pool 14 remains strong. Pool 14 is one of the few pools where walleye are stocked regularly to offset any loses due to the Quad Cities Nuclear Power plant. Stockings are somewhat successful and contribute 20 percent of the population on a given year. Largemouth and smallmouth bass have also been excellent fisheries in the past few years. Planning is ongoing to restore the fishery in Beaver Island complex across from Clinton, Iowa. The dredging of the complex will start in 2017.(2016)
