Interior rivers are at usual to low levels for this time of year and have been providing fair to good angling opportunities on walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike, crappie and channel catfish. Lakes in and around Cedar Falls have been producing some catches of panfish. Trout streams remain in excellent condition here in northeast Iowa. For further information contact your local area bait shops for more details.
Anglers have been doing fair on crappie and bluegill on the lake.
Black Crappie - Fair: Find and drift over structure using electronics in six to eight foot of water using a live minnow under a bobber or artificial jigs.
Bluegill - Fair: Fish area structure or off of the shoreline using a piece of worm under a bobber for bluegill.

Iowa-Caught Fish Are Safe to Eat, In Almost All Cases

The vast majority of Iowa’s streams, rivers and lakes offer safe and high-quality fish that pose little or no threat to human health if consumed. Some limitations may apply for young children and pregnant women. Here’s a Fish Consumption Fact Sheet from the Iowa DNR and the Iowa Dept. of Public Health for more information.
