Hunter Education Instructors

Thank you for your interest in the Iowa Hunter Education Program and your commitment to the future of hunting. Your time is your most valuable commodity. Giving of that time to teach Hunter Education will be a rewarding and fulfilling experience. Being an apprentice is the first step. Your apprenticeship means you are in the process of becoming a Certified Volunteer Iowa Hunter Education Instructor. Our Volunteers take great pride in being part of one of the most respected and success programs in the country. We have dedicated Instructors that have served the program for over 40 years. Those Instructors feel that they are truly held at a higher standard as sportsmen and women. Instructors must maintain a very high ethical standard in the hunting field and in the classroom to be role models and mentors to young hunters. Being a good role model means protecting the integrity of the program. Hundreds of dedicated Volunteers have given of themselves to keep hunting a safe and ethical outdoor activity. As you proceed on in the certification process you are required to accomplish the following, not in any particular order: Attend a Hunter Education Class to acquire your student certification, if you have not already done so Assist in teaching one Hunter Education Class under the direction of another Instructor Attend a New Hunter Education Instructor Workshop presented by your local Recreational Safety Officer (RSO) Once these steps are completed it is your responsibility to notify your RSO as to the dates and locations where these steps were met. Once again, thank you for your commitment to the Iowa Hunter Education Program. Your time and dedication will keep hunting in Iowa the safe and long tradition it has become. Yours for Safe and Ethical Hunting, The Recreational Safety Officer Unit
