Boater Education Online

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources offers a NASBLA (National Association of State Boating Law Administrators) approved Iowa Basic Boating On-line Education Course. This long-distance learning style allows students the ability to use interactive technology to learn boating basics and safe boating practices. To take an interactive boating course at your own leisure from home, go to one of the following approved online boating courses:

Boater education is mandatory for any person 12 - 17 years old, who will operate a motorboat over ten horsepower or personal watercraft (PWC).
