Be Sure to Register for MAC Training by Dec. 29 for Commercial

On Jan. 5, commercial manure applicators can fulfill annual training for manure applicator certification (MAC) requirements at 72 locations in Iowa. Most locations offer training from 9 a.m. to noon, with doors opening at 8:30 a.m.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) released between 1,000 to 2,000 rainbow trout at North Prairie Lake, in Cedar Falls, as part of its cool weather trout program that brings trout to areas that cannot support them during the summer.

MONTROSE, IOWA -- At approximately 11:50 PM on November 13, 2021 a train collided with a barge that had been parked along the shore of the Mississippi River near Montrose in Lee County, Iowa. The southbound train operated by BNSF hit the stationary barge, derailing two locomotives and overturning several coal cars between the main line and side track. DES MOINES — Although statewide precipitation was slightly below average in March, a combination of high precipitation in Nebraska, snowmelt and rapid runoff led to historic flooding along the Missouri River, according to the latest Water Summary Update.
