Brilliant fall colors are not only found in trees, but also in streams and the Manchester Fish Hatchery. These underwater splashes of color are signs that trout spawning season is in full swing.

Hundreds of yellow ovals offset the brown and green coloration of each female brown trout ready to spawn at the Manchester Fish Hatchery. The splashes of color are signs that trout spawning season is in full swing.

MANCHESTER – Saturated soils and heavy rain on Oct. 1 caused moderate flooding at the Manchester Fish Hatchery. Water was about three feet above the tops of the lower raceways and ½ inch from entering the office building.

The Maquoketa River Water Trail, in Delaware County, will be dedicated as Iowa’s newest official water trail during a public ceremony at noon on June 16, at the gazebo next to the whitewater park, in downtown Manchester.
