The trout stocking at Lake Petocka, Bondurant, has been moved to Nov. 7 at noon. The trout stocking at Ada Hayden Heritage Park Lake, Ames, has been moved to Nov. 8 at 10 a.m.

Both stockings, previously scheduled for Nov. 15, were moved up a week with concerns that next week’s forecast cold temperatures could cause the lakes to start to freeze and create unsafe ice and fishing conditions.

“Moving these trout stockings up a week will give anglers a chance to enjoy the last few days of open water fishing this weekend,” said Ben Dodd, Iowa DNR fisheries biologist.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will stock 1,500 trout into Lake Petocka and 2,200 trout into Ada Hayden Heritage Park Lake.
