Confinement site applicators attending Pork Congress Jan. 24 can also complete their manure applicator certification training. DNR and Iowa State University Extension will offer the two-hour class from 10 a.m. to noon in Room 103 on the lower level of Hy-Vee Hall at the Iowa Events Center.

Check the Iowa Manure Management Action Group’s certification website for other opportunities to complete commercial, confinement site or dry manure certification training between now and the March 1 renewal deadline. DNR also offers options of online training or testing to complete certification requirements.

A current certification is required prior to land applying manure. Although certificates expire on Dec. 31, applicators have a two-month grace period to complete training (or take a test) and renew their certificate. A late fee of $12.50 applies for those renewing their application certifications after March 1.
