Location: Located 1.5 miles southeast of Sattre. Angler parking provided along Spring Creek Road.

Brook Trout - Fair: Brook trout taking a variety of flies imitating gnats, midges, caddis or an occasional mayfly. Use care not to alarm it when approaching the stream in gin clear water.
Brown Trout - Good: Best time to fish spooky brown's is when water is off color. Use lures that mimic small minnows or midges.
Streams maintain nice holdover numbers for the casual angler. With the start of turkey season, anglers should avoid wearing red, white, or blue. The calendar is now available on-line at https://www.iowadnr.gov/Fishing/Trout-Fishing.
Rainbow Trout - Good: Find rainbows in head ends of pools. Fish the afternoon hatches for fun action.

This stream is managed under a "Catch and Release Brook Trout, Artificial lures only" regulation. Anglers must release all Brook Trout immediately. The stream supports naturally reproducing Brook Trout and Brown Trout populations. South Pine is a small open stream in a narrow valley surrounded by prairie in the floodplain. Access to this stream is challenging. The only way to access this fishery is by walking from the parking lot on Spring Creek Road following the mowed trail about 1 mile to the stream. At the bottom of the first hill past the pond, follow the mowed path to the right. Primitive camping is allowed on the South Pine Creek Wildlife Management Area.(2022)
