LOVILLA – A planned boil advisory has been issued for the city of Lovilla in Monroe County starting Tuesday Dec. 8th while a water main project is being completed.

The project is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday and the entire city’s water supply will be shut down for a few hours.  The water main project is the result of a leaking underground storage tank site that is replacing plastic line with ductile iron.

Loss in water pressure can create the potential for bacteria to get into the system. The boil advisory will remain in effect until two sets of bacteria samples have been completed to determine the water is safe.

Due to the potential for bacterial contamination, it is being recommended that the water be boiled before being used for drinking or cooking or that an alternative source such as bottled water be used until further notice.
