20 Artists and 20 parks
Art Exhibition Features 20 State Parks by Iowa State University Artists

A new art exhibition featuring Iowa state parks will travel to several Iowa art museums and galleries in 2020. The art collection, “20 Artists, 20 Parks,” is the culmination of a partnership between the DNR; the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs; and Iowa State University.

In 2019, 20 faculty and graduate students from three of Iowa State University’s colleges — Design, Agriculture and Life Sciences, and Liberal Arts and Sciences — were each matched with a state park, creating artwork that reflects their time as artists-in-residence. Paintings, sculpture, textiles and other art forms inspired by the park are featured in the exhibition. The art exhibition was funded through a grant from the Iowa Arts Council. Each artist will return to their designated parks in 2020 to provide a program or art demonstration, which can be found on the centennial calendar at iowadnr.gov/parks2020.
