Iowa youth trapshooting championships Wednesday in Cedar Falls

Cedar Falls – Iowa’s Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) state trapshooting championship event begins June 6 at the Iowa State Trapshooting Association home grounds just north of Cedar Falls.Middle school and elementary aged athletes will begin the competition on Wednesday with high school athletes competing Thursday through Sunday. CRESTON - A boil advisory has been issued by the Southern Iowa Rural Water Association (SIRWA) and Creston Water Works following issues with the filtration system at the Creston Water Treatment Plant. The SIRWA and Creston Water Works is issuing this drinking water warning to all of their customers.

State archery tournament begins March 10 in Des Moines

SPIRIT LAKE – The walleye fishing season on Spirit, East and West Okoboji lakes is open through Feb. 14, 2018.  It will be closed after that date and reopens again on May 5, 2018. These are the only Iowa lakes that have a closed season for walleye.

DNR Park Ranger honored by Iowa OHV Association

Milkweed Matters began in 2014 when group founder Kelly Guilbeau began throwing loose milkweed seeds along the RAGBRAI route. The following year, seed ball dispersal began with 2,000 thrown during the ride in collaboration with another organization; Monarchs in Eastern Iowa. Last year the number of seed balls jumped to 58,459—made at 79 different events statewide by 3,406 people.
