DES MOINES – The DNR Derelict Building Grant Program awarded seven grants to six small, rural Iowa communities to help deconstruct or renovate abandoned structures, remove asbestos, and limit construction and demolition materials going to the landfill.

The Department of Natural Resources received grant funding from the Environmental Protection Agency for a diesel emission reduction program in Iowa.  The DNR has created a competitive application process to fund projects that will implement cost-effective strategies that result in diesel emission reductions statewide.

The Natural Resource Commission for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources approved two Resource Enhancement and Protection Public Private Cost-share grant requests from the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation at its October meeting. The projects were awarded more than $510,000.

The Natural Resource Commission of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources approved eight Resource Enhancement and Protection grants to County Conservation Boards during its October meeting. The grants totaled $1.29 million. There were 17 applications for the grants.

The Natural Resource Commission of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources approved Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) grants to 22 cities for use in parks and open spaces during its October meeting.  The projects were awarded nearly $2.4 million.  There were 53 applications for the grants.

he Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ Fish Iowa! angler education program has partnered with the Recreational Fishing and Boating Foundation’s (RBFF) Vamos A Pescar program to provide grants to local 501(c)(3) organizations to support  local efforts to educate and engage families in high-density Hispanic communities through programs, classes and fishing activities.
