The colorful return of wildflowers to Iowa's woodlands each spring is a thankful sign that winter is (mostly) behind us.

Head out to an Iowa state park or preserve to take in the show, and be sure to take along a guide or our no-pick scavenger hunt list. Remember, it's illegal to pick wildflowers in state parks and preserves and county parks, so hunt only with your camera!

Many of these spring wildflowers are ephemeral (short-lived), so don't put off that hike, and get out there soon.
