DES MOINES -- Big Creek State Park will host a volunteer event and informational meeting Tuesday, Sept. 12.
Volunteers are needed to help harvest prairie seed from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Hot dogs and drinks will be provided after the activity and those planning to help are asked to meet at beach shelter #1 and RSVP at Big_Creek@dnr.iowa.gov
A review of the 2017 Big Creek season will be presented from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at beach shelter #1. The presentation will include park operations and usage information, and updates on the following construction projects: restroom replacement at Gannet and West boat ramps, fish cleaning station replacement, repairs to Neal Smith Trail and gate repairs on the dam.
