Owners – Sign that MMP

Some facilities have been submitting manure management plans (MMPs) signed by the MMP writer rather than the owner. Just a reminder that the plans, including annual updates, must be signed by the facility owner. If the owner is a corporation, the person authorized by law to sign on behalf of the corporation must sign the MMP. The same applies to open feedlots and truck washes that require a nutrient management plan or NMP.

Consultants and technical service providers: Please make sure the owner signs the plan. If you are interested in where this requirement comes from, please check Iowa Code Section 459.312(8) for MMPs and Section 459A.208(6) for open feedlots and truck washes that require an NMP.
