Nonresident Hunting Information

Notes: (Posted Sept 1, 2010)

  • Nonresident refunds were mailed on August 27th. Please allow 7-10 business days for receipt of your refund check. Please be advised, hunters unsuccessful in the Any-deer/Antlerless-only combination license drawing will be given one preference point AND assessed a mandatory, nonrefundable $50 preference point fee as well as nonrefundable license agent writing fees, administrative fees and telephone or internet application fees. The information regarding these nonrefundable fees was communicated in the nonresident deer application which is still available below.

  • Nonresident deer licenses have been mailed. Please allow 7-10 business days for receipt.

Important Dates:


Dec 15, 2010:

Optional Antlerless-Only Nonresident Deer Holiday license sales begin (if quota allows). Only available if hunter has not yet purchased a Nonresident deer tag.

Jan 1, 2011:

The first day a Nonresident can purchase a general hunting license for the 2011 season.

Jan 11, 2011:

January Antlerless-Only Nonresident Deer license sales begin (if quota allows). January Antlerless tags are only available if resident antlerless quotas have not filled.

Left Over Quota Licenses

Note: Please be advised, there are no nonresident bow licenses available for the any deer left over quota. Nonresidents can buy left over quota licenses for the Shotgun 1, Shotgun 2, Disabled Deer or Late Muzzleloader seasons only.


Preference Points:
If you purchase a preference point during the application period you cannot purchase an excess tag. If you put in for the lottery and were denied you can purchase an excess deer tag without being penalized the $50 preference point fee. You have 4 weeks from 07/22/10 to purchase the excess tag without being charged the $50 preference point fee. If you purchase the excess tag within the 4 week time frame you will be refunded everything minus the service fees. Please remember if you purchase an excess tag your preference points will be zeroed out.
