South Fork Maquoketa River Watershed Project
The South Fork Maquoketa River Water Quality Project began in July 2004.

Landowners and residents are working together with the South Fork Maquoketa River Water Quality Project to improve their river.

By installing conservation practices and making other changes, South Fork Maquoketa River residents are working to improve their farming operations, their land, their river and the future.

    What's a watershed?

    A watershed is the area of land that drains into a lake or stream.

    Water traveling over the surface or through groundwater may pick up contaminants like sediment, chemicals and waste and deposit them in a body of water.
