Pasture Management Field Day scheduled for July 31
On July 31, Mike Sweeney and John Olmstead will display several Pasture Management conservation practices on the Sweeney farm. Learn about the benefits they have recieved or expect to see as a result of thier projects; what has worked well for them and what they would consider doing differently.

A few Pasture Management conservation practices that Sweeney and Olmstead have used are:

  • high tensile electrical fencing used for a paddock/rotational grazing systems and livestock exclusion from Camp Creek.

  • heavy use crossings across Camp Creek used to provide livestock water for paddocks adjacent to the creek and as stream crossings.

The NRCS' state management specialist, Brian Peterson, and Iowa State University grazing and hay specialist, Joe Sellers, will both be in attendance to answer questions and discuss Mike and John's operations.
