Big Wall Lake lands on state's impaired waters list
Invasive species like carp, landed Big Wall Lake on Iowa's impaired waters list.
Big Wall Lake landed on the state's impaired waters list in 2002 due to exotic species which impair its ability to support diverse aquatic life.

Common carp threaten the water quality in Big Wall Lake. The carp population has exploded since its introduction in the early 1990s during a period of high water. Another threat to Big Wall Lake is rice cultivar, which impairs plant and animal species diversity.
