State Nonpoint Source Management Program - Iowa

September 2000

The federal Clean Water Act requires states to prepare a management program outlining how it intends to address its nonpoint source pollution problems. The attached represents an upgrade of Iowa's Nonpoint Source Management Program and was approced by the US Environmental Protection Agency in November 2000.

Iowa's NPSMP identifies the state's water resources, discusses the impacts nonpoint source pollution is having on these resources, and describes the programs currently being used to address Iowa's nonpoint source problems. The NPSMP also identifies specific activities Iowa intends to conduct in the future to address its nonpoint problems, assuming adequate resources are available.
