Regional Collection Center Establishment Grant Program

The purpose of the Regional Collection Center (RCC) establishment grant program is to encourage the proper disposal of household hazardous materials and hazardous waste from "conditionally exempt small quantity generator" businesses.

The RCC program provides grant assistance for costs associated with education and the capital outlay for construction or modification of a structure(s) to serve the public as a secured, permanent facility.

The RCC facility offers collection, sorting and packaging of hazardous materials from urban and rural households and conditionally exempt small quantity generator businesses prior to transportation of these wastes for final management or disposal. A DNR goal is having RCC services easily accessible to all Iowans.

Eligible applicants include: any public entity defined as a county, more than one county, one municipality, more than one municipality, a council of governments, more than one council of governments, or solid waste public agency as defined in Iowa Code Chapter 28E.
