The purpose of the Keepers of the Land Volunteer program is to provide support for successful programs, and to develop new opportunities for volunteers. Local, state and federal agencies simply can't do all the work that needs to be done, so we rely on you -- the public -- to help.
The contributions of more than 100,000 volunteers enable the DNR to expand and improve services to the public. Keepers of the Land Volunteer Program administers statewide DNR volunteer programs. Its scope includes the recruitment, selection, referral, and recognition of volunteers. Training in volunteer management and supervision is provided to DNR staff working with volunteers. Volunteers' work individually and in groups undertaking projects in both field and office settings. Volunteers work with DNR managers, professionals and technicians to help manage the state's diverse natural resources. Volunteer positions range from jobs requiring no previous experience to specialist positions requiring extensive skill and experience. Volunteers provide work which supplements, but does not supplant, DNR personnel.

To everything, there is a season.
