Reservations Now Accepted for Cabins, Campsites, Day-use Lodges, Shelters

Customers can make reservations on the Internet at www.reserveiaparks.com. The Internet site is available 24 hours a day seven days a week.

Beginning December 31, 2007, the reservation call center will have new operating hours. Those hours will be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (CST) Monday through Friday and closed on state holidays. There will be no call center service on December 30, 2007.

Beginning December 31, 2007, all mail-in payments should be mailed to:
Iowa State Park Reservations
502 East Ninth Street
Des Moines, IA 50319

Advantages:

  • Convenience - you can now register for state park campsites, cabins, lodges or shelters in advance through the Internet or the call center. Cabins, shelters and lodges can be reserved 12 months in advance, and campsites can be reserved three months in advance.

  • Flexibility - 50 percent of campsites can be reserved in advance, and 50 percent are still self-registered, first-come/first-serve sites -- whichever meets your needs for how you would like to plan your trip.

  • New ways to pay - now customers can pay by credit card online or through the call center. Traditional methods of checks, money orders or camping coupons may be used when going through the call center. Beginning mid to late January, 2008, customers will also be able to pay online by check.

  • Great system features - the online reservation system offers maps of every park, descriptions of specific campsites, lists of amenities, even photos of specific cabins, so you can get lots of information about your park stay in advance to help you plan.

  • Beginning in mid-February, 2008, customers will be able to change or cancel reservations online!

  • Less hassles - no matter how far away you live from any state park, you will have the security of knowing a camp site will be waiting when you arrive. You also avoid self-registration; when you arrive at the park you can immediately begin enjoying your stay.

  • Security - the Internet site is secure, and you will have proof of your reservation through a confirmation notice.
