Grassland Management Units

grassland management unit

It is currently proposed to manage 591 acres of grassland to provide a diversity of vegetative habits for a variety of wildlife species that thrive in grassland habitat such as the Henslow’s Sparrow. This bird is a state-listed threatened species which is known to nest in the southern portion of the recreation area.

There will be 3 types of grassland categories:

  • Bromefield maintenance
  • Short grass prairie
  • Tall grass prairie
