Fishing Fishing
Rathbun Lake is a fishing destination. The peninsulas and coves around the lake provide perfect habitat for crappie, channel catfish, walleye and largemouth bass. Anglers come from all over the Midwest to hook one at Rathbun. Maps and complete fishing details can be found on the DNR’s fishing page.

Boating
Sometimes called “Iowa’s Ocean,” boaters will delight at the opportunities on this lake. Power boats, cabin cruisers and fishing boats have plenty of room to enjoy the water. The lake’s size and prominent winds also make Rathbun one of the best sailing lakes in Iowa, and sail boats are a common sight. Even canoers and kayakers will enjoy the hidden coves and peninsulas.
