- Green Valley State Park
The lake renovation project is well underway. The lake is 12 feet below normal pool and will remain that way throughout
the spring and fall, so the beach and boat ramps will remain closed for the rest of the 2009 recreation season. The fishery has been renovated
and restocking has taken place. In-lake projects such as fish habitat structures, shoreline improvement, jetty and boat ramp repairs have been
completed. Reconstruction of the spillway is nearly complete. The campground and cabins are closed until the campground renovation is complete.
The campground and cabin work will be done this summer and fall, but probably not available for use until the beginning of the 2010 recreation
season. For additional information contact the park office at 641-782-5131 or via email at green_valley@dnr.iowa.gov. (updated 6/19/08)
- Lake Darling State Park
The lake is being drawn down for a 3-year renovation project starting 11/10/08. This project will impact all water based
recreation for the next 3 years until the project is completed and the lake is allowed to return to normal pool level. The
campground, cabins, lodge and picnic shelters will be open and available for use. For updated information please contact the
park office at 319-694-2323. (updated 11/25/08)
- Lake Macbride State Park
Beginning 11/17/09 the valve was opened at Lake Macbride to allow the lake to lower approximately eight feet. By mid-December, 2009
construction will begin to repair some erosion on shorelines, jetties and islands that were damaged in the flood of 2008. The draw
down will make the boat ramps unusable. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-winter, 2009. With normal weather conditions,
the lake should be back to normal pool for the 2010 recreation season. (posted 11/19/09)
- Lake Wapello State Park
The beach is now closed. The boat ramps are not usable and are closed. Small boats or canoes/kayaks may be launched if they are carried to
the water, but no boats on trailers can be launched. Given favorable precipitation, the lake should be refilled by fall of 2010, however, wetter
than normal conditions like those experienced in 2009 would reduce this time. (Posted 10/20/09)
