Family Trout Fishing Day Saturday at Bondurant
Posted: January 12, 2010
BONDURANT - A family trout ice fishing day is scheduled for Jan. 16, at Lake Petoka, in Bondurant. Activities begin at 10 a.m., with trout fishing seminars by staff with Bass Pro Shops. At 11 a.m., there will be lunch and registration followed by trout talk at 11:30. At noon, the DNR will stock 1,500 rainbow trout in the lake.
The DNR will be tagging some trout for prizes including trophy sized brood stock fish. Bass Pro Shops and Organized Fishing provided the prizes.
The event is free, but anglers need to be properly licensed and bring appropriate gear. Children under 16 may fish for and possess trout if they fish with an adult who has a valid fishing license and trout stamp; however, they will have a combined daily limit of five trout. Children under 16 may purchase their own trout stamp, which will allow them to keep their own limit of five trout.
Restroom facilities are available and there is parking on site.
The event is sponsored by the City of Bondurant, Bass Pro Shops of Altoona, the Bondurant Men's Club, Organized Fishing and the Iowa DNR.
