Body Recovered on Missouri River Identified as Missing Boater

SALIX - A body recovered late Monday evening from the Missouri River has been identified as Bruce Wright who has been missing on the river following a boating incident Saturday night.
Wright, 31, of South Sioux City, Neb., was ejected from a boat on the Missouri River along with Oscar Gomez, 33, also of South Sioux City, near the city of Salix.
The body was discovered by a boater at approximately 9:30 p.m. approximately 11 miles downstream from where Wright initially disappeared.
Oscar Gomez sustained injuries including prop cuts to his right leg and an injury to his left hip. He was airlifted Saturday night to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Oscar Gomez was assisted back into the boat by other boaters on the scene, but Wright could not be located.
The boat was operated by Samuel Gomez, 32, of Jackson, Neb., who was later charged with boating while intoxicated. Wright and Oscar Gomez were reportedly thrown from the boat when Samuel Gomez slowed down suddenly while the other two passengers were in the bow of the vessel.
The incident is still under investigation.

SALIX - A body was recovered late Monday evening from the Missouri River, but could not be positively identified early Tuesday morning as being that of Bruce Wright who has been missing on the river following a boating incident Saturday night.
Wright, 31, of South Sioux City, Neb., was ejected from a boat on the Missouri River along with Oscar Gomez, 33, also of South Sioux City near the city of Salix.
The body was transported to St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City and will be identified and examined by the Woodbury County Medical Examiners office.
The body was discovered by a boater at approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday, approximately 11 miles downstream from where Wright initially disappeared.

Search Suspended for Missing Boater on Missouri River

SALIX - A search for Bruce Wright, 31, of South Sioux City, Neb. on the Missouri River was suspended Sunday evening due to darkness. It is anticipated that the search will resume on Monday.
Officials are searching for Wright who was ejected along with Oscar Gomez, 33, also of South Sioux City, Saturday evening approximately one mile north of Salix (river mile 718).
The U.S. Coast Guard, several DNR boats and a number of volunteers were searching the river Sunday in an attempt to locate Wright.
